Here is a short video showing the method I use to create sharp edging. </p><p>Materials used are: <span></span></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>small drawing board</li><li>plastic t-square ruler</li><li>mars white eraser </li></ul><p></p><p>Place the paper on the board, lined up at the edge of the board. Lay the t-square on the paper and make sure the paper and the ruler are squared up. Line the eraser to the edge of the ruler and run it down the outside edge of the ruler. I carve a chisel edge on the eraser for a sharper line.</p><p>This works particularly well on shaded skies. I do not use this technique for areas with heavier applied graphite as it will smear and press the graphite into the paper.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwX51r86D1YYTkqhxKlpgBgtLGN8yVZW4Gpour-vmE7WQn-fZe45e1_aPcTAKIlvF5L-A-CnLS-z4M' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Photo of finished drawing unframed </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3LXb7LdSETXI1uL2YHZ8M4X52VhOomWp-zPEzruo_EXQiuBPfx83IFsWyOwtZfEv9-dN4nVKwd0ZVicf1v-MMU_zEBz5uwWYp9kd9sOVda6iytJq7eRvo7CQBVTY0jXWBuqEFAxBHPgBRYZWbac30FdRXV3e8qG3JptUHlO4jXq8a21pO-w/s4032/0B277DA0-30B0-43A3-AC76-C4654CCDFB6F.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3LXb7LdSETXI1uL2YHZ8M4X52VhOomWp-zPEzruo_EXQiuBPfx83IFsWyOwtZfEv9-dN4nVKwd0ZVicf1v-MMU_zEBz5uwWYp9kd9sOVda6iytJq7eRvo7CQBVTY0jXWBuqEFAxBHPgBRYZWbac30FdRXV3e8qG3JptUHlO4jXq8a21pO-w/w480-h640/0B277DA0-30B0-43A3-AC76-C4654CCDFB6F.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p><div class="blogger-post-footer">website: www.DianeWrightFineArt.com</div>Diane Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12496368011907081552noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17179561.post-26465376619116348982022-09-03T08:23:00.001-05:002022-09-03T08:23:37.630-05:00Experience the Landscape<h3 style="text-align: left;">It is more than just a drawing. This mountain scape just embraces relaxing and calmness. My heart rate lowers, I breathe deeper and slower, my mind clears of all the chaos and hustle of daily life. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The first step in this drawing this was to create a even tone background shared by both the sky and water. This was done by applying crosshatching lightly across the entire page then using a chamois to smudge the graphite to a smooth finish. To create crisp edges, I use a small t-square and mars eraser and erase the overage to a crisp edge. As long as the crosshatching strokes and chamois-smoothed graphite is lightly applied, the graphite sits on the surface of the paper and can be easily erased. The Arches hot press paper lends itself well to this technique. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The next step is to remove areas of the graphite for highlights by using a kneaded eraser. The mountain is rendered using vertical pencil strokes starting at the edges with firm dark strokes tapering to lighter ends. And the trees are used in dark strokes forming the pine tree branches and the bushes. The water is so calm that the tree reflections almost mirror the trees but are slightly less defined. Gentle breaks in the tree reflection show slight waves of the water.</div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">website: www.DianeWrightFineArt.com</div>Diane Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12496368011907081552noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17179561.post-72486961015195538452022-06-15T09:14:00.003-05:002022-06-17T06:22:53.438-05:00Coastal Weathered Tree - Part Two<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: medium;">This beautiful tree has been shaped by it’s environment as the Oregon coast is rugged with strong winds. The last post was over 6 years ago. Over the past few years, I have focused my attention to smaller drawings and sketches. This collection is a sampling of these. The smallest is approximately 1-1/2” x 2” and the largest 3-1/2” x 4”. Using a smooth paper in a sketchbook called “Minimalism Art”, I am able to shade a background with graphite and then smooth it with a chamois. Now the entire surface is an even tone base to start building up the darks, shapes of trees , textured grass and reflective water. A kneaded eraser is used to lighten areas of clouds or the sun.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtsnGJGGCq9aciOKqCdMC3jZC-QMHH8lB23VDdLS8TpPSl85hVnW9EtqC1HUkAAU3xJnOfbANcikr3YbM1hON9PmLbV18ZTGHI38UhqkD2_x8LC34KQ95pK1tV6yPDps6J7oyHGofkEd6J1l0zw16tz5ljfRq5Vb44OfWEfNKmNDgg0uRtng/s2828/0AD6FF75-0E4B-4BED-8F21-9CA90D4746B7.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2828" data-original-width="2828" height="541" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtsnGJGGCq9aciOKqCdMC3jZC-QMHH8lB23VDdLS8TpPSl85hVnW9EtqC1HUkAAU3xJnOfbANcikr3YbM1hON9PmLbV18ZTGHI38UhqkD2_x8LC34KQ95pK1tV6yPDps6J7oyHGofkEd6J1l0zw16tz5ljfRq5Vb44OfWEfNKmNDgg0uRtng/w541-h541/0AD6FF75-0E4B-4BED-8F21-9CA90D4746B7.jpeg" width="541" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><br /><p></p><div class="blogger-post-footer">website: www.DianeWrightFineArt.com</div>Diane Wrighthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12496368011907081552noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17179561.post-31522469655639541612016-11-12T13:37:00.005-06:002022-06-17T06:22:50.167-05:00Derwent - Drawn to Perfection<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
From the smooth laydown of the graphite to paper to the improved core strength allowing the sharpest point and crisp edges of the softest 9B are a shear delight. Here are progressive scans of my current work in progress. The light branches against the dark interior is usually a real challenge. But using a sharp tip of the 9B worked magically filling in the negative space between the thin branches. The branches were then shaded using the HB. The thin weeds were indented into the paper using the 9H and then a layer of 9B was applied. This allowed the finest lighter lines to show through the darks. The 2B is a beautiful mid-tone layered on the main barn boards. <br />

<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">different brands and finding which one fits your </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">specific drawing technique can be challenging.</span><div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Over the years, I have tried most brands of graphite pencils. My favorites are a mixture of brands as well as lead ranges. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h3>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">HB Lead Comparison </span></h3>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The HB lead test definitely produced the most variation! The brands used were Grafwood Caran d'ache, Palomino, Faber Castell 9000 series, Tombow and the new Derwents. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The HB Derwent and Grafwood were the most similar in value with a nice silver tone. However, the Grafwood laid down a bit smoother. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Faber Castell had the most similar firmness as the Derwent but noticably darker.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Palomino and Tombow are the darkest and the lead much softer. The Tombow has more shine than the Palominio. These make for great sketching pencils! </span></div>

<h3>
4B Lead Comparison</h3>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The next Brand comparison was using the 4B lead. The Brands included were Grafwood, Tombow, Palomino and Derwent.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These were much closer in both firmness as well as values with more subtle differences.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Derwent, again is the lightest in value of the four with very little 'graininess'.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Tombow is next in value darkness.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The smoothest, buttery feel goes to Grafwood and Palomino. Both nice range of light to dark application. Both have dark value with the Palomino being slightly darker.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">
9B Lead Comparison</h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have only one Brand with a 9B and that is the Grafwood. Again, the Derwent is slightly less in value that the Grafwood. The Derwent is consistently firmer, leaving crisp, dark lines. The Grafwood tip 'weardown' was markedly quicker than the Derwent.</span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">While I do not use the blending technique </span></div>

<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">this test is good to see the "smudgability" </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">of layered graphite. The two blending tools </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">used are the tortillon and chamois. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Board Smooth has </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">been consistently been used for all the tests so far.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The graphite has been layered onto the paper using a quick crosshatching. An underhand pencil grip was used to keep the layers light to remain on the surface. The text labels were written fairly heavy to test the smudging.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here are the results:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimB6KUyz0iZdxztC3TLXI0TSbOtS3yzLz65stIpmk9yLFioS08VvjgehpLQdqwY99EExmZTMkV3Mn1G1EJj3gEZfTxgbHRBexV8aI437_8UW7GRxEt9tScgrq8MoK3wbo9cWCM/s1600/Derwent_Blending.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimB6KUyz0iZdxztC3TLXI0TSbOtS3yzLz65stIpmk9yLFioS08VvjgehpLQdqwY99EExmZTMkV3Mn1G1EJj3gEZfTxgbHRBexV8aI437_8UW7GRxEt9tScgrq8MoK3wbo9cWCM/s640/Derwent_Blending.jpg" width="608" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The 6H is difficult to see and lays down very hard. When using this lead grade with the intent to blend, multiple light layers would be needed. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">After spending the past few days working with the Derwents, the results do not surprise me. They lay down very firm, smooth, with little graininess. With the firm core, smudging is less, but blending is more difficult as well. Applying lighter layers may provide better results. Also paper plays a huge factor in how it reacts to graphite. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Lack of "easy" blending is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a characteristic that can be very beneficial. Smudging is always a concern when drawing. Crisp, clean pencil marks especially when working in smaller areas using dark tones is challenging with softer grades.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But, we still have more to come...</span></div>

This brings up the question of how much has the Derwent graphic pencils changed and is there an improved difference? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I mentioned in my previous post that I have two <a href="http://dwrightart.blogspot.com/2016/10/derwent-rebranding-for-fresh-new-look.html" target="_blank">older tins of Derwent Graphics</a> and provides a perfect opportunity to compare the old versus new. My older sets are missing a few pencils, so I will limit my testing to 3 different grades.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The first comparison and the biggest difference is the quality of wood and how they sharpen. The older sets splinter as they sharpen, leaving the lead exposed and creating inconsistent sharpening. The new Graphics sharpen clean.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

Graphic has been the trusted choice for graphic works, used by thousands of artists throughout its twenty year history to create a wide variety of artworks.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The new Graphic range has a number of key features and benefits:</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Smooth colour lay down</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Improved core strength</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Colour removes easily for detailed work with an eraser</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Available in 20 consistent degrees from 9B to 9H</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Highly lightfast</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It is now time to start putting the pencil to the paper. I encourage every artist to experiment with their pencils. Using graphite pencils is very tactile in nature and your results will vary based on the pressure applied, the pencil grip, angle of the pencil as well as the paper used. Learning the unique characteristics and qualities of each lead will help you pick the best one to make the right pencil mark.</span></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My initial response after opening the tin was the "wow" factor of having a full-range of lead grades displayed before me. Most brands limit the range to 4H to 4B. I have to say that I have never used a 9H before! </span></div>
<div>
</div>
<br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The first test is to chart out how each pencil lays down in order of the range 9H to 9B. With each grade, I layers down a small patch dark to light, a line and simple shading using a sharp lead tip. The section on the right is using a <b>flat chisel point lead.</b> The paper used is my most commonly used brand, Strathmore 300 series Bristol Board Smooth. As you can see in the chart, the leads consistently and progressively go from the lightest (9H) to the darkest (9B). Some of the grades are very close but as you lay down the graphite, you can feel the subtle difference. </span></div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The next test is to challenge the feature - color removes easily for detailed work with an eraser. I charted each of the leads again, giving me another opportunity to evenly apply a layer of graphite. Then I simply ran a sharp edge of a mars plastic eraser through each section. I repeated the process using a Stadtler kneaded eraser. I am actually surprised I didn't get more smudging between the leads as I did not lift the eraser as I moved down through each one. Nice!</span></div>

Some are drastically changed to be almost unrecognizable. And others, like Derwent, keeps their branding consistent with subtle changes. They know what works, keeps their branding consistent and brings a fresh new look to their Graphic pencil line.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><b>Through the years</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To illustrate Derwent's branding changes through the years, I dug through my pencil tool box and found a couple of older graphite tins to compare with the new look. The artwork on the new tin is by Alexis Marcou commissioned specifically for the 'Graphic' collection. </span><br />

But once I explained to them "what better place can a graphite artist have fun than at a pencil event?" They readily agreed this was "my kind of show". The Blackwing Event was indeed a party for a pencil, but it was also so much more. The Blackwing pencil can be considered a symbol of all things creative. Whether you are an artist, writer, musician, architect, mathematician or engineer, a pencil and paper are the simplest tools to start releasing your creative muse. <br />
<br />
Organizations like the Blackwing Foundation and the Creativity Center understand and promote efforts to give our youth opportunities explore creative avenues. This is what the Blackwing Event was really all about. Each part of the event was carefully planned to spark and expose visitors to the creative process. <br />
<br />
The Blackwing Experience Event was a 3-day (6/25-27) event held at the <a href="http://chuckjonescenter.org/" target="_blank">Chuck Jones Center For Creativity</a> located in beautiful Costa Mesa, California.<br />
<div>

The evening event was really a lot of fun. Many of the displays were interactive exhibits, engaging the visitors to explore word and visual games. These quickly "broke the ice" and everyone had a great time. I met some of the nicest folks and the start of friendships that will last longer than my brief stay in California. I specifically want to mention 3 illustration artists that really made me feel welcomed, Frank Howa, Mark Doublin, and Micheal Smith. </div>

My original framed graphite drawing, Agnew Meadows, will be on display. This drawing was featured as the vision for the next generation of fine artists in the <a href="http://dwrightart.blogspot.com/2010/10/blackwing-utube-advertisement.html" target="_blank">Blackwing advertisement</a>. It is also the cover of the <a href="http://www.pencils.com/journals-sketchbooks/luxury-sketchbooks/artist-series-sketchbook-diane-wright" target="_blank">Blackwing Artist Series luxury sketchbook</a>.<br />
<br />
Over the past few years I have continued to collaborate with the Cal Cedar folks as one of their featured artists and submitting drawing technique articles to <a href="http://www.pencils.com/blog/drawing-lessons-importance-of-sketching/" target="_blank">Studio 602</a>. <br />

<b style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Drawing Lessons: Techniques to Help you<i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"> “See”</i></b></h2>

Every artist has felt the frustration of getting “stuck” trying to draw the shape of an object. By <i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">abstracting the object,</i> you can disengage the thinking (left side of the brain) and tune into what you are actually seeing (the visual or right side of the brain). In this section, we are going to practice techniques that can help you “draw” what you “see” and <b style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">not</i> </b>what you think you see.</div>

There are a variety of contour line techniques. Use one or any combination of these to help you see.</div>
<ul style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.796875px; margin: 10px 0px 10px 35px; padding: 0px;">
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;">Blind Contour – draw the object without looking at your paper.</li>
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;">Pure Contour – draw the very outline of the object, drawing nothing on the inside.</li>
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;">Modified Contour – draw the outline and interior parts without shading.</li>
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;">Variable Contour – Vary the width of the contour line to give emphasis and weight to the line. This creates an “expressive line” and provides depth to the object.</li>
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;"><em id="__mceDel" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Cross Contour – draw lines that would follow across the form, like a topographical map. This offers clues to identify 3-d form. The brain needs very few clues to “think” its 3-d.</em></li>

Focus your attention and draw the space around the object rather that the object itself (the gray space in the reference image)</div>
<ul style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.796875px; margin: 10px 0px 10px 35px; padding: 0px;">
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;">Use a contour line draw only the area between the objects. (focus your attention on the space between the object.)</li>
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;">Use tonal drawing to identify the areas around the object. Frequently used when rendering a light object against a dark background such as grass or trees.</li>
</ul>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.796875px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<b style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Abstracting the object</i></b><i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"> – The goal is to force your brain to see lines, shapes and spaces instead of the object as a whole. </i></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.796875px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">
<i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Two simple techniques:</i></div>
<ul style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.796875px; margin: 10px 0px 10px 35px; padding: 0px;">
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;"><i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Turn the image upside down</i></li>
<li style="list-style-image: none !important; margin: 0px; padding: 3px 0px;"><i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Look at the image in the mirror</i></li>
</ul>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.796875px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-top: 15px; padding: 0px;">
Teach yourself to <b style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><i style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">abstract the object</i></b> and you can more accurately render the shape. Disengaging the mind and focusing on the visual representation is your goal. Ultimately….by abstracting, you can achieve realism.</div>
